Meet the Team and Contact

Thomas McCarty, L.Ac. Dip.OM, Owner and Acupuncturist at Tree of Life Acupuncture

A native of Jefferson Parish, Thomas has called many parts of the U.S. home. Longtime interest and study of herbalism and food-as-medicine led Thomas to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

He earned a master’s degree in TCM at AAAOM in Roseville Minnesota in 2010. Licensed in acupuncture the same year, he practiced in Minnesota’s Twin Cities between 2010 and 2018, before moving back to New Orleans in August of 2018.

Thomas has been licensed to practice acupuncture in Louisiana since February, 2019

From Tree of Life NOLA website:

“Indispensable to any holistic health care system is our innate ability to heal, and the human talent to find wellness throughout life—qualities I believe we each have within us. These qualities are essential to the effectiveness of any approach to health. Ultimately, we each own our experience of health and wellness.”

“Working in healing arts has been a great opportunity for personal growth and every day I am thankful for the chance to help so many people.”

Nat Gove, Community Acupuncture Assistant, Administrative Assistant

Nat grew up in a small farming town in Missouri where nobody talked about Eastern Medicine or had access to anything of the sort. Many moves have taken them here, there and everywhere and she found acupuncture in Colorado twelve years ago. They found it to be effective, healing, and an approach to health she wanted to implement in her life continually. Nat began working as a clinic manager of a community acupuncture facility in Denver back in 2019 and has been doing so ever since.

She is still a patient of acupuncture, a virtual assistant for the Denver clinic, and an assistant for PCAC. When she is not helping remove needles she is writing poetry, playing the clarinet, and working at Preservation Hall. Nat is so grateful to have a resource like PCAC available to the New Orleans and parish communities.

Taylor Hurley, LAc

Taylor was drawn to Chinese Medicine from a long-time interest in herbalism. After spending most of her adult life in the Pacific Northwest, and having completed her acupuncture education in the Southwest, she has been living and working as an acupuncturist in
New Orleans since the end of 2024. While she integrates many theories and modalities into her practice, she is passionate about community acupuncture and other ways to
make care more accessible.
